(Family Ranunculaceae) (Synonyms T. speciossimum) A clump-forming perennial that gets 4-5ft (1.2-1.5m) tall and spreads to 2ft (60cm). This subspecies is more robust than T. flavum. It has glaucous blue-green leaves and fluffy, pale yellow flowers on top of slender stalks. The leaves are divided into three-lobed, rounded leaflets. It flowers from mid to late summer; they are composed of tufts of stamens and 4 or 5 sepals but no true petals. This plant looks really nice growing in meadows, natural gardens or woodland edges.

It is fully hardy and grows in any well-drained soil, but it prefers a richer soil. It likes sun or light shade. Thalictrums grow best in climates that don't get too hot in the summers. Propagate with fresh seed in autumn or spring, or by division in spring, although plants will take a while to recover after division.

This plant is native to Europe and Asia. The common name is a reference to the rue-like blue-green foliage.
